Privacy
Nothing to declare, because nothing is collected
This isn't the summary of a longer policy hidden somewhere else — it's the whole text. FlashCard Studio has no server, no account and no analytics dashboard: the developer receives none of your data.
- Made on your device
- Your decks and mind maps, with their text, images and formulas, are created, laid out and printed on your device.Cards and formulas are rendered locally, inside the app's sandbox (App Sandbox). Printing only goes through your device's printing system.
- iCloud sync
- If you're signed in to iCloud, your decks, mind maps, study progress, calibrated printers and appearance settings sync between your Mac and your iPad, in your private iCloud space (Apple's CloudKit service). This data is stored in your iCloud account: neither the developer nor anyone else can access it. Without iCloud, everything stays on the device and the app works normally. The Windows version doesn't use iCloud: everything stays on your PC. Apple handles it under its own privacy policy.
- No account, no tracking
- No sign-up, no usage statistics, no crash reporting service, no tracking or advertising SDK. The app doesn't connect to any server of the developer.
- Sharing decks
- When you share a deck or an entire folder (AirDrop, Messages, Mail…), FlashCard Studio creates a .flashcards file that you send yourself, by the means of your choice. A folder contains its subfolders, decks and mind maps. Your study progress is not included.Nothing is shared without your action. A received file is only opened if you choose to.
- Photo library
- To add a photo to a card, the app opens Apple's photo picker: it only receives the photo you choose, never the rest of your photo library. No photo library permission is requested. The chosen photo is stored in your card, on your device (and in your private iCloud if sync is on).
- Clipboard
- When you paste a list or an equation, the app reads what you just copied, only at the moment you paste, to turn it into cards or a formula. This content is neither kept anywhere other than in your cards, nor transmitted.
In short: what you create with FlashCard Studio stays with you — on your devices and, if you wish, in your private iCloud. This policy applies to the current version of FlashCard Studio for Mac, iPad and Windows and covers it in full.
